Our Story

Moving, what a stressful time in one's life.

Broken boxes, hard to stack, some heavy, some light, what a mess!

There we were, in July 2011 and we were moving and I can still remember it. We were out everyday running around looking for boxes. Lots of wasted time, gas and money and sometimes, there were no boxes to be found. What I do remember, moving is a very stressful time.

Finally, in the new home and boxes everywhere. Empty boxes on the front porch, in every room of the house and unpacked ones everywhere. During the move we had boxes of all shapes and sizes.

While taking a break on the couch, I noticed a stack of boxes, uneven, some collapsing and just boxes everywhere, what a mess. I thought to myself, there must be a better way, a more eco-friendlier way to move without destroying our trees. Especially when you think of how many people move in a year.

We must be hurting our environment, what I discovered really opened my eyes.

In an average residential move, approximately 60 cardboard boxes would be needed with each box weighing an average of 1.3 lbs totalling 80 lbs.

If 50 people per month would switch to Pak Stak N’ Go, 24 tons of less paper would be consumed per year.

So over a year, Pak Stak N’ Go customers will save:
408 trees, 1896 gallons of oil, 186,000 gallons of water, 1 million kilowatts of energy, 1440 gallons of air pollution and 122 cubic yards of land space.

Cardboard and paper waste makes up an estimated 18% to 26% of landfill material. When you combine this with the negative impact of logging to produce the cardboard, the environmental impact of cardboard is significant. WOW!

My sister and I began to research moving bins and discovered that it is well established in British Columbia, but not locally.
