G & J Glassworks is a working glass studio / gallery operated by myself Jim DuFrane and my wife Gale. It was inspired by my love of glass and a passion for making “Things” and also our desire to live the “Creative Life”.
My glass passion began just out of high school when I took a stained glass class offered locally. Not satisfied with that course I began exploring this beautiful craft on my own and shortly after landed a job at a local art glass studio, where I was employed for over 11 years.
While employed there I was trained in the old school ways of doing this beautiful stained, leaded and etched glasswork and was free and encouraged to use all of the tools and equipment in the studio to play with and develop different ideas. This afforded me the opportunity to hone my skills and further explore the many facets of glass working techniques.
I left that studio to pursue other opportunities, but have always remained active in glass work and have continued to learn new techniques.
Twenty five years after I began working in glass I am again in a studio setting. G&J Glasswörks is the culmination of all my years of experience and learned skills put into practice.
From the beautiful display furniture designed and built by myself to the unique and beautiful glass work on display in our gallery show room you will see my commitment to quality and obvious love of working with glass.
Custom work is of course the most satisfying thing we do, as we get to work closely with you our customers to create that one of a kind item that is just what you were looking for.
